Some wonderful sights here and another trip down memory lane……thank you.
P.T. Perkins of Clarence Road was still going strong the the 1950’s and 1960’s, I remember getting my school uniform from there.
In the 1950’s it had those overhead, wire cash carrying machines whizzing back and forth to a main cashier who sat in a small office at the back of the store. Cash only of course!
Great stuff!
I love the way some of the businesses are advertised with a portrait of the moustachioed proprietors – was this to give an impression of their respectability? I also love the Random Use of Capital Letters in the sales pitches – presumably to give Emphasis to the Special Qualities of their Merchandise.
Wonderful – I live in Telford – nowhere near the area you deal with but have got to know it through the years I have been getting your blog – always interesting and revealing
Amazing Pictures of the many vintage sales items. I have enjoyed this so very much!!????????
