Alice Pattullo’s Household Lore

September 6, 2017
by the gentle author

Illustrator Alice Pattullo sent me these screenprints she has been working on recently. “They were inspired by my ongoing fascination with superstitions, old wives tales and nonsensical rhymes,” Alice explained, “This series ‘household lore’ is a culmination of this collection of lore to take heed of at home.”

Each of these prints has been produced in an edition of twenty at £25 each and they may be purchased until the end of September from Yorkshire Sculpture Park

I am so happy that I have discovered Alice’s work, thanks to this blog. I have her “Animal
Alphabet” (in book form) plus other limited-edition screen-printed work. She always provides a fresh vision, so unique and distinctive. I appreciate her contemporary design vibe, but with
a nod to traditional beauty and grace.
Thanks for introducing us to Alice – she is a marvel.

PS – and, if you ask me, TWO black cats bring lots of luck. (if my cats Satchmo and Seymour
    are any example…….)

Very true. My black cat brought me so much love, contentment and luck.
l adopted him at the age of 14 and never regretted it. l went to view a house where the owner was going abroad.
l didn’t need to think about a decision – it was love at first sight.
The friend who had accompanied me took the house and l took the cat.
l had been a Boxer owner all my life with little knowledge of being owned by a cat. l instantly felt important.
