could not believe this picture – my grandmother always said she used to go down and get milk from the cow at St James Park – she was born 1885 – many years ago heard someone on the radio says about this cow until then had thought it was just a ‘fantasy’ by my grandmother but to see a picture – wow!!!!
What a fantastic reply from Nina! My mum was born in the East End in 1912. It is mind boggling to see how much London has changed in a comparatively short time. My 23 yr old cannot believe some of these pictures and thought the cow must be there purely for ‘decoration’. She speaks as someone who lives in the uber trendy part of London where things l like that happen!
Great pictures and great site.
Thank you.
