My grandfather George ort ran the baker shop in wide gate street.
Next to kings stores. He also ran a shop in the lane for Nordheim
I’m unsure of the number.
Dad and his brothers grew up there. The only non Jews. Went to sir John class
I have gleaned many memories from them about these days. Between 1917 and
1939. There are sadly no family photos from there. So these postcards are great.

Loved seeing this picture! Came across it when searching for info on my ancestors’ shop: Gorton Chemists. The corner of this building (146) can be seen in the photo. Florence Gorton was my grandma and was the daughter of the line of Gortons who worked in this shop. We have quite a number of documents & photos of & from the shop itself.
