I think it’s those characters I miss .
That’s the London I remember on my first visit from Australia in the early 1970s . I was sent by my employers to learn the business of buying Victorian furniture for export to Australia where it was highly fashionable . It was not wanted in 1970s London but many dealers specialized in supplying the Australian and Italian dealers fighting to buy up container loads . I also visited so many street markets , and actually found good pieces to buy . I once bought a beautiful Victorian games table in Peckham from a stall holder, next to someone selling secondhand underwear , and on the other side , puppies for sale . All cash , no questions asked . Wonderful photos !
