The Hackney Yearbook, 1906

Meet me on the steps of St Paul’s for a tour of sightseeing and storytelling, rambling through the alleys and byways of the Square Mile in search of the wonders and the wickedness of the City of London.

I wonder if the ‘oldest chemist in Hackney’ shop premises still exists?
Wonderful Hackney memories, there were some wonderful shops back in the day.
Perkins in Clarence Road was still in existence in the 1950’s/early 1960’s and they had one of the overhead ‘zip wires’ for cash transactions, I got my senior school uniform from there.
Happy days.
It fills me with joy seeing these adverts and I think the one from the public’s the best .
