Bloomsbury Jamboree 2024

.

In gleeful collaboration with Tim Mainstone of Mainstone Press and Joe Pearson of Design for Today, I am hosting our annual BLOOMSBURY JAMBOREE, a festival of books and print, illustration, talks and seasonal merriment next SATURDAY 7th & SUNDAY 8th DECEMBER from 10:30am until 4:30pm.

It takes place at the magnificent ART WORKERS GUILD, 6 Queens Sq, WC1, which was founded in 1884 by members of the Arts & Crafts movement including William Morris and C R Ashbee. These oak panelled rooms lined with oil paintings in a beautiful old house in Bloomsbury offer the ideal venue to celebrate our books, and the authors and artists who create them.

There will be book-signings and a programme of ticketed lectures and readings plus we have invited our talented friends to exhibit, including print and paper makers, small press publishers, toy makers, potters, craft workers and importers for food by small producers. We present a selection of the work of some of our exhibitors below.

We need volunteers all day Saturday and Sunday. We offer bags of books and other goodies as rewards – if you can help us, please email hello@inkpaperandprint.co.uk

There are so many beautiful things to see again: Robson Cezar’s houses inspire me, but also the BAUHAUS figurines and the cats, as well as the silver jewellery and the other fine printed matter and decorations.

I was particularly surprised by the lino print of the ‘White Horses of Wiltshire’ — I now learnt that the Millennium Whitehorse was created in the Devizes Hills in August 1999. I didn’t know anything about this when I photographed the ‘Westbury White Horse’ at exactly the same time (!) …

This sale looks so yummy, that even seeing the ANNOUNCEMENT fills me with envy and covetous joy. Over here in the far flung wilds of the USA, I’ve been happy to purchase unique publications from Spitalfields Life, Design For Today, and Mainstone Press. Easy-peasy and highly recommended.

A glorious array of unique artists! Wishing you all a very successful event.

An auspicious day for the arts hereabouts. Our region is hosting an artists’ studio tour, and there will be visiting and prancing about. And hopefully some commerce. Hurrah!

I was most interested to see the Plate by Rena Gardner from Portrait of Dorset published by Design For Today, as Rena Gardner taught me art when I was at Bournemouth School For Girls back in the 1960s.

Some lovely things here, but the Wicker Man is creepy. It’s my all time favourite horror film.
