    I remember the excitement of visiting Gamages department store, next to the Prudential building in the late 50s. These two imposing buildings, with Staple Inn opposite really captured my imagination then

    My dad served with the 1st. Battalion (London Regiment) Royal Fusiliers during the Great War. Celebrated his eighteenth birthday two weeks after the armistice. Always think of him when I drive past. Lest we forget.
