Do you know where Black Raven Alley used to be?
There was a pub on west side of Bishopsgate, just north of Brushfield Street called the Black Raven so I would assume Black Raven Alley would be alongside of the pub but it’s not marked on the 1895 map or the 1947 one.
Black Raven Alley ran south from 105 Upper Thames St down to Swan Wharf (The building in darkness on the left), just to the west of London Bridge. The building on the right of the photo is the Old Swan pub, 7 Swan Lane (Swan Lane ran parallel to Black Raven Alley). The archway on the right led through to the City Commercial Wharf on Old Swan Lane.
The entire area was destroyed during the first days of the Blitz in Sept 1940.
