I am giving an illustrated lecture of Spitalfields & Whitechapel in Old Photographs on Thursday 16th October at 7pm at the Hanbury Hall in Hanbury St, E1 6QR.

Wonderful images.
I was particulary struck by the Horace Warner, an alley most of us couldn’t imagine living in but still with pots of flowers on the sill and a smartly dressed girl posing in her carefully tilted hat.
He had such a gift for capturing people with affection and respect.
