Liam’s work is beautiful and instantly recognizable. I saw his art in the background on American TV one night and knew the painting was his. I didn’t recognize the person in the foreground, who is apparently a famous footballer. 😉

Liam O’Farrell’s way of doing watercolors excites me. It could be that he inspires me to activate my disused drawing skills as well.

Thank you for this wonderful story!

These are lovely characterful paintings and good reminders about how important it is to protect all these different markets which are such a vital part of London life.

I would love to see a painting of the entire length of Whitechapel Market with all the different buildings behind the stalls – again it would be a great reminder of how varied and interesting the street is, and how important it is to protect the conservation area.

Many thanks to The Gentle Author for the post on my market paintings

Janet Mohler : The famous footballer was Gary Lineker, he had a picture of mine on his wall. I saw it when he was broadcasting from home on lockdown. A bit of a surprise as i didn’t know he had it.

    Best wishes

    Liam

No Hoxton Street? One of London’s oldest markets.

I absolutely love these paintings and would happily have any or all of them on my wall at home. Fabulous!

I love the people in these pictures – all going about their busy day, stopping to chat and being entertained by a busker. These paintings really do show street life and are very sweet and cheerful.

Fascinated to see these pictures! Does any one know the history – origins and demise – of Bacon Street Market? I used to have an association with the splendid St Matthias Primary School in Bacon Street, which presumably for some time co-existed with the market.

It would be good to know more!

Love the Lowry-type figures! (And far better than Lowry I might add!)
