Old Mother Hubbard & Her Wonderful Dog
Courtesy of Jemmy Catnach of Catnach Press, it is my pleasure to publish this early nineteenth century shaggy dog tale of the devoted Mother Hubbard – believed to be by Sarah Catherine Martin

Wonderful!
Shaggy dog stories took on a new meaning in the armed forces in the 1940’s and 50’s.
They were long and boringly detailed tales taking over an hour to narrate that ended with an aggravatingly stupid ending that were developed to while away the time on long watches or in my case flights.

Hello,
I am a descendant of Sarah Martin who wrote Old Mother Hubbard. I have a lovely pastel portrait of her here at home. I wonder if it would be of interest?
Kind regards
