    Just as I remember it. I walked to school through artillery passage to Spital Square ,My dad was licensee of the Kings Storespub in Widegate Street

    I have one of the Fort Street cast iron road signs as “acquired” by my father back in the early 80s. He used a flatbed lorry to get up high enough to reach it.
    I wish I could see the sign in a photograph of Fort Street.
