I lived in Ravenscroft. The entrance with the two pillars is where my nan (flo Cox and Charlie Cox) and great gran lived.
I lived at the other end of the buildings and my Uncle Terry and Aunt Rene lived in the middle of the buildings looking down on Ravenscroft street.
Later on in the late 70’s my mum (Thelma) had the hairdressers next to the café you can see in the picture.
Hi Natalie – just seen your comment. I am doing a little research. My nan and pop lived in Quilter Street and Ravenscroft Buildings respectively, until they moved out to South Woodford in about the 1930s. Funny – my pop was a Baker, but nan’s family were Coxs.
I lived here with my mum Jennifer when i was a baby in 1972 to maybe 74. Im 50 and i still have nightmares about the horrible dark flats, staircases and corridors. My nan beryl also lived here on the ground floor.
