Can you help? Today is Sept 16, 2014–within this week I read a Spitalfields personal story by a man who was a kid in post-WW2 London–I believe in East London or Spitalfields itself. It was about his family’s terrible privations (they ate mostly rice, potatoes or bread–some of it from soup kitchens) and the writer and his 5-6 siblings slept in one bed, “like sardines.) Somehow he had a wry, cheerful view of his early years. No indoor plumbing or water…a bit of meat or sausage was a windfall. An absolutely wonderful story–I WISH I could read it again. My guess is it appeared between Sept. 11-14. Can you tell me where to find it? — Mary Kamps, rabid Spitalfields fan
