Could this be The Victory pub that is in Vyner Street Hackney?
This is the Victory that was on the corner of St Leonard’s Road and Bright Street, Poplar.
Small correction, Vyner Street is NOT in Hackney but LB Tower Hamlets; it’s the old MB of Bethnal Green. It’s only recently that I have discovered that this belief that all north of Hackney Road is Hackney also seems to include the area to the east of Cambridge Heath Rd between Bishop’s Way and the Regent’s Canal. (A view held by some council project contractors.)
“The Victory” can be seen in the background of the opening scenes of the short film “Scene Nun, Take One’ starring Susannah York.
The film is included as one of the extras on the BFI release of “Long Shot”.
