    I think is actually the rear of 16 and 17 Poyser Street, taken from the eastern end of Middleton Street

    Thanks Andy, quite right. After a good deal of sleuthing via Google Street I see it was actually from the corner of Middleton Street and Hollybush Gardens, looking towards St Judes Road E2 with the railway line between Bethnal Green and Cambridge Heath in the distance. The Beatrice Tate School is presently on this site.
