My father Alfred Daltrey worked for Empress Motors in the early to mid 1950s, alongside friends such as Alec Belinger (spelling probably wrong). Some twenty years ago he popped around to the coach depot where the office was (on the right side looking in ( I remember going pass there on one occasion, beside the canal) -an easy walk from our home in nearby Royston Street – anyway he was remembered, enjoyed a a cuppa tea with staff and talked about old times.
Somewhere I have similar photo of my father in a similar pose with other drivers in front of a coach – but I naturally prefer the word “carabanc”
