Thank you Gentle Author. This is such a fascinating story, and one I'm heard about before, but I'm so pleased that there are those who work so hard to keep such fantastic skills alive, often whole families in the business, but sharing those skills with others too. I loathe the 'throw-away' society that creates such waste elsewhere, but also that pays those with no other choice, but to accept low wages for the something that won't be valued for more than 5 mins anyway.

Wonderful story and post -- thank you! I write about nineteeth-century buildings, and 'knew' of the importance of brick-making -- but did not appreciate the complexity and art of making good bricks. Thank you again for enlightening this student.

I loved this story. I live in Franklin, Kentucky. All the dirt here is that beautiful red clay. Hence bricks were made here so much long ago too. So many big and small houses here in zKY. are of that. warm red brick color !! Plus its very rural where I live ( I call it my village as small town. I cannot live in a village in England so Franklin is my village). Lots if wheat, corn(grain), some soy beans, some cotton. I live it very friendly snd safe .

You know PEI in easter Canada has that red dirt too .so does Hawaii..and their soil is super healthy.

So thank you. I wish I could live in England and be able to walks all the streets and i do gete in Franklin. I walk to all my errands and shops .
thank you

This is wonderful: the story I didn’t realise I’d been waiting for!
A splendid office and a beautiful existence. The decorative bricks in the third-to-last photograph are especially striking.
