So I applaud him and not only him but the others like him.
My Auntie Rae told the story of Abe Aarons a worker just like Max and the Guv’nor came in to hear him talking in the tailoring place and with his paper beside him and picked him up by the scruff of the neck and threw him down the stairs. He had lost his job and when my brother Paul began to talk in our home at 17 Milward Street Whitechapel she declared to him,” You’ll end up like Abe Aaron’s. no hair and no teeth and the Guv’nor will throw you down the stairs.”

My Baba and her family were from Vilna which was close to Riga and my Zaider and his family from Warszawa Poland .Like people in the story they too fled from the Pogroms. from Czarist Russia.
