The 80s skyline in the City was more impressive than it is now. I was there last year for the first time since 2013 and felt all of the new very tall buildings were too crowded together. Travelling in through Docklands from City Airport felt very dystopian with all the modern apartment blocks, it reminded me of the movie Blade Runner and felt a bit scary. If I’m being honest I was glad to return to Switzerland.

This looks like the London that I knew when I worked in one of the tax offices in City Gate House in Finsbury Square. I used to go to Whitecross Street market in my lunch hour and the Nat West Tower was still being built. I remember the cranes on the top. I worked in the area for 6 years and knew it well from my lunchtime walking in the area. I still envisage it as it was so it was a bit of a shock when I revisited the area a few years ago and hardly recognised it, specially the old Broad Street Station redeveloped.
