I LOVED BETTY’S STORY. Her photos were beautiful. Tender sweet children. Its true children now do not know how to just be kids. Their lives are so controlled. they will never be free or truly happy . Thank you. She is amazing.

These names are familiar to me because my dad mentioned them. He lived in the bakery 12 wide gate street. Left ww2. He too had an affinity with the area. Many tales grandad the Baker. Tubby Isaacs. My son still visits. Kings stores. Thank you for Betty’s story

That’s a really great story. It’s always an adventure to go back to childhood. And it’s amazing that Betty still remembers the days of her curly-headed childhood — very nice the new song lyrics!

Thankyou for these lovely memories and photos of a strong and beautiful woman.
I wish my own dad had shared more memories of his growing up in Brick Lane.
