It begins at Ivinghoe Beacon, north of Tring, and does down from there to meet the Thames near Wallingford. It follows the Thames for a while before crossing it at Streatley.

From Ivinghoe to Avebury is about 85 glorious miles.. but if that is not enough the ancient path continues to the NE from Ivinghoe, along the Icknield Way. And at the Avebury end, there is the Wessex Ridgeway and the White Horse Trail
