					<description><![CDATA[At the start of World War 2 we had a Yeomans pike propped against our staircase in South London.  My father had joined the Home Guard at the start of the war , and these Pikes were their first issue from the Armoury in the Tower.
I remember my mother asking “George , what are you going to do with that Pike?”
And my father explaining that they had been instructed “to run at the descending German Paratrooper and get him with the Pike before he had a chance to use his rifle “
And that’s how we won the war]]></description>
