At the centre left of 'diaphanous oblivion' I see a sword hilt. No doubt my overactive imagination due to my current reading being Gillian Tindall's wonderful 'A Passage Through Time' about the recent and ancient history of the areas affected by the Crossrail development (but also encompassing London generally).

Thanks for another lovely article.

Another interesting article from you, many thanks. For the record, my Great grandfaather ,
Diederich Wetjen arrived in Spitalfields in the year of 1849 and soon found a job in a
Sugar house in the Brick Lane area.. The company were called Ellers & Morgens !
Diederich had one of the safer tasks in the business in so much as his job was to look
after the boilers rather than handling the molten sugar, the accident rate being high in
that respect!

Coincidentally, English actor Nicholas Galitzine (rising Hollywood star and soon to be seen as He-Man in a blockbuster movie) recently posted a short video on a visit to New York and took a photo of a "Commit No Nuisance" sign there, which he also used as the title of his post. What a small world!
