Our family Christmas always featured glass ornaments, some of which would have been quite old. We had a glass Zeppelin and Santa was always at the highest position. ‘Series’ light strings always complicated matters searching for dud bulbs, but some of the lights were liquid filled candles which bubbled. Apparently. All done with now… Interesting info about the manufacturing process. Thank You.

THIS is the holiday posting that I look forward to each year. I love the images.......not only the photographic ones, but the written ones as well. You have perfectly captured the fondness we have developed for such things, and affirmed that the sentimentality for such baubles is part of being human. And part of the holiday season, in all of its shadings.

I think I am almost as fond of your ornaments as I am of our tree-full of special, personal decorations. Each one is a story. A remembered friend, a recalled place, an occasion, a left-over glass ball from a long-ago family tree, as well as some VERY non-holiday items that we insist on hanging on our tree.

Many thanks GA, for pulling the heartstrings on this cold winter morning.

These baubles are very delicate and would have to be banned in my house due to Christmas cat carnage. We have had the drama of one cat being very ill over the festive period but, miraculously, now is much improved, in contrast to the vet's gloomy predictions. But I still don't take the chance with glass. The ancient decorations that we possess are safely packed away. Happy Twixtmas!
