But still no statues even locally acknowledge those sad times.

We certainly had a cat at all times. But I must admit that I do not know what happened to it when we had to move away, except that we certainly did not take it with us to lodge withMrs Church in Radlett, Herts. before we got our own cottage at The Lodge, Harperbury, Harper Lane, while my father worked at Handley-Page up the road at London Colney.

It has been 80 years since the end of the war now. And here we go again: our Minister of Defence has decided that young German men (and women!) must once again become ‘fit for war’. — TODAY they decided that next year everyone will be called up for military service again… Sometimes I think I’m in the wrong movie!
