The last yard

The last yard
The tempest of our lives .

Auntie Rae mops it down
For one last time .

The bulldozers come
And stories are destroyed

Communities gone
Paralysed in poise .

Now Robert Montefiore Primary school
Is to be buried . I prefer to remember
The voices we had
January till December.

Where cats are my friend
Where Miss Bram runs a chess club
Where safety was felt
No more in the green hub .

I started at Deal St in 68 and also went to the secondary school in Vallance Road.
