I went to the 2022 regatta. I had been hoping to visit again some time quite soon but struggled to find any information about dates etc. A search on the internet turned up a number of very similar posts saying that shortly after the 2022 regatta, IC (internal combustion) motors were banned, and that effectively spelled the end of the club after 199 years.

I hope those posts aren’t true; maybe the Gentle Author’s subscribers can refute them. If they are true, who imposed the ban?

My dad loved building model boats, and I loved watching, helping, and then setting them afloat. Thanks for bringing back the memories.

Often had Sunday morning walks with my dad and siblings, and always loved watching the boats on a Sunday morning during the early 1950s, although not at Victoria Park, possibly on the Serpentine? which was nearer to my childhood home.
