Thank the heavens for people like Clive Murphy (and you, G.A.)! We would be much poorer without people who have the insight and willingness to listen, record, and share. I’ve always appreciated Spitalfields Life for its word-portraits of ‘ordinary’ people, whom you pass every day on the street knowing not a shred about them. You are a worthy successor to Clive Murphy–who was a magnificent story in his own right– and I do hope you will continue to share the stories of those magnificent, ordinary people.

I shall buy Clive’s book.

May I say that Mr. Murphy and his countryman, Mr. Bacon, shared an enjoyment of “stuff”?
They both curated an almost unfathomable nest of belongings and flotsam — and both of them
clearly felt so at home in the midst. I loved reading the phrase “raconteur of the highest order”.
Quite so.
