I’ve spent the largest number of years of my life living within walking distance of the River Thames, and so wish that I still did. This is an amazing story of one very talented and interesting sounding man. Thank you for sharing.

If you know Terry Scale’s life story, you know why ONLY HE could paint this kind of Thames shipping pictures. I really like them!

Thank you for introducing us to this artist. I so appreciated his comments about the “talents” of the other workers and colleagues. I have no doubt. It would be marvelous to meet ALL of those people, working on the waterways, and hear their stories. These paintings have captured the depth of his experiences, and lured and captivated me. Dare I say, some of these canvases remind me of paintings of New York City by Georgia O’Keeffe did — very moody, contemplative, and
compelling.

Thanks so much for this, Terence Scales is a distant relative of mine. I believe my grandmother was a Scales, Beatrice, her siblings were Phoebe, William and another(s) whose names I can’t recall.
Terence regularly wrote to my aunt Joan Hackett. I’m thrilled to see the art work.
