But seeing all those joints of flesh and bone being bandied around is pretty grim. Evoking perhaps earlier times in Smithfield when people were martyred for their beliefs. Close family friends of our’s back in the 50s/early 60s, owned the Turkey business at Smithfield. I have a lovely photo of them with the late Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother taken at Smithfield, so ‘presume’ they supplied the Royal family with turkeys too. The irony was they were Jewish themselves, so didn’t celebrate the Christian Christmas.
