I used to regularly visit Pollocks Museum and toy shop when it was just behind Goodge St Station. The toy shop had perfect stocking filler toys and the museum was on the upper floors of an old Georgian townhouse - stuffed full of vintage toys, teddy bears etc. The floors were a warren of corridors, rickety and dim lighting so a perfect atmosphere. I note from their website that they're hoping to find a bew premises and are taking donations to help them. I hope your write-up encourages others to donate to keep this wonderful historic business thriving.

I was fortunate enough to live and work around Charlotte St a short while back and regularly shopped around the corner behind Goodge St Station at Pollocks Toy Museum for stocking fillers. I remember it was in an old town house, the museum being on several floors upstairs with creaky, uneven floors, dimly lit and stuffed full of vintage toys. It was fabulous. I'll visit one of the pop-ups.

I have been captivated by this topic for decades. I've been enthralled by an international array of antique theaters in the International Folk Art Museum in Santa Fe New Mexico; studying the nuances between the sturdy German versions, and the delicate French examples, etc. But
Pollock's remains the nexus for such things -- the undisputed Palace -- of toy theaters. You've given us a delightful tutorial today, and tempted me to blow out my credit card and be THERE
at the Dennis Severs' extravaganza. Alas.............

Throwing carefully-trimmed-and-cut-out paper roses your way.
