Fascinating read on Nicholas Culpeper! It's amazing to learn how his early life in Sussex shaped his passion for herbs and healing. His contributions to medicine and dedication to helping the poor are truly inspiring.

I took one of your first walking tours where you commented on Culpeper, his hair, and said, as you pointed out your similar style, that you were channeling him. Reading this about his fine character I think you are twin brothers.

What a great account. A very special man who deserves to be remembered. There is a copy of Culpeper's Herbal available on Project Gutenberg free to read online or download in various ebook formats.

As someone currently under the dictates of a rather avaricious medical 'specialist' I think I shall use a slightly tweaked version Mr Culpepers quote: "No man deserves to etc..." the next time he smirkingly presents me with his eye watering charges.

Such a huge fan of Culpeper. I would love so much to create a sizeable tile panel celebrating his life and work - the man, his house, his arms etc in the centre with by portraits of various herbs and wildflowers - maybe to go on the inside wall of St John's!?! Dream commission.

What an interesting article. I've got a fascination for this man, what a life he had, sad that he died so young. My fascination began when I picked up a really old copy of Culpeper's Herbal for 10 pence in a second hand sale, about 16 years ago. It was one of those jaw dropping moments, I just knew it was very special, and for me it's the pleasure of wondering how many hands have held it. It's the Milner edition from 1852, and it's falling apart, but I'll never part with it. Truly my special book.
