Hats off to the practice of featuring everyday citizens in stained glass depictions. Yes, we are used to ethereal personages rendered in gorgeous shards of glass -- I thinking today of the windows by Alphonse Mucha, for instance -- but seeing our actual neighborhoods depicted in glass: Priceless!
In our local community we have a set of stained glass windows that are in need of restoration and repair. With a shrinking church congregation, the care-taking of the windows has passed to the overall community and we are figuring out some fund-raising ideas. (Unfortunately, the church does not have records indicating the craftsmen who created the windows or other helpful historic info.) But, like the windows here, the panels show everyday people. One window that has always grabbed my heart shows a bunch of little kiddos, picking flowers, accompanied by their pets. How fitting that our little town contines to be a welcoming place for gardeners.
And out to the deck to water my plants.................

I would have no time at all for any religion were it not for its valuable associations, one of which is certainly art exemplified by these marvellous works. All praise to the artist!
