It has warmed my heart and inspired my soul to find Jim focused so deeply on the art of the maker.

When a sense of the vernacular and style of the time is so close to perfection in this East End paradise why would anyone want to do anything other than look after the legacy of the place.

I give my heart felt thanks to Jim and his inspiring drive to sustain such a fine set of treasures that is Spitalfields.

Best wishes

May I say that this gent seems to be, ahem, a nebbish? That word -- and trust me it is a great compliment -- came to me when I saw the photo of him staring down the photographer as he sat hunched at a cluttered table in a darkened corner. Methinks he is a man who is always in good company, with his own thoughts, imaginings, and endless abilities.

Clearly, the Dennis Severs House has been a nexus for people-destined-to-meet. Reminds me of this quote from Mark Twain about his beloved home in Hartford, Connecticut:

"It had a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals and solicitude and deep sympathies, it was OF us, and we were its confidence and lived in its grace and in the peace of it's benediction". Amen.

Jim Howett seems to be a real local patriot who actually has an eye on EVERYTHING and can offer perfect solutions to the problems of the neighbourhood. He should be allowed to continue doing this!
