These are fun, looks like a good time was being had by all. I used to work in a gallery along the Bankside in Southwark and we’d often get actors coming in who were performing at Shakespeare’s Globe or the National Theatre, one was the late Doreen Mantle who played Mrs Warboys in One Foot In The Grave, she came with Annette Badland. All of them were really nice people, not starry at all. Some of the Shakespeare’s Globe ones used to drink in the Founder’s Arms which was our local.

My husband's cousin and wife, from Italy, were visiting us in Manhattan. His brother, Mike, decided that he wanted to regale the visiting folks with all the "uptown" stuff. Opera at Lincoln Center, hair appointment for the ladies at Kenneth, famous restaurants, etc. We decided to take them around to our "downtown" haunts, and had planned a whole evening crawling through jazz places in The Village. But, first, a dinner at our favorite soul food restaurant, Horn of Plenty. It was crazy-early, and we were the only diners -- except for another table for two. John Lennon and Yoko, were the other diners. We looked shyly at them, they looked shyly at us -- and we all gave little hand salutes, and then back to dining. When the Italian cousins got home, it was announced far and wide: Lynne & Giovanni know the Beatles! Not exactly, but still it was a triumph.

What a great idea to promote patronage from the rich and famous? As an ordinary punter, there is always that odd moment when you recognise a celebrity and you want to gush and tell them how much you admire their work but also wish to respect their privacy. Consequently, I usually choose to say nothing.
I went to university in Chelsea and saw well-known faces of the day very frequently. Undergraduate buddies used to share sightings as twitchers do with birds. " Mick Jagger in the newsagents!", "Bryan Ferry buying cigarettes!" and my claim to fame: I stood behind Nick Edmunds, of the band Rockpile, and frequently featured in my favourite show, Tizwas, stood in front of me in the queue in the bank.
Pellicci's is as famous as those who grace its patronage so is a place to be seen, as well as to be seen in!
