These are so poignant. I always try to give what little I can to local charities who help the homeless and destitute. About 15 years ago I did voluntary work for one in Scotland, many of the clients had addiction problems so were classed as hard to house.

Since I moved to Switzerland I have supported the Salvation Army as they run a male and female hostel, they also help young women get out of prostitution. We regularly donate to the local Red Cross and all of our good quality unwanted clothing is laundered and taken there because as well as selling it in the shop, they give bundles of clothes to people with nothing like refugees. It’s good to share things with people less fortunate, my parents taught me that, they lived through the depression, the means test and the war.
