Cats suit my lifestyle better. However, my mum often talked fondly of her childhood pet, Jack the Airedale terrier. Jack was unfortunately hit by a car and, contrary to the vet’s advice, my grandmother insisted that his leg was set in plaster to heal at some considerable cost, probably an amount that the family could I’ll afford. Jack recovered but walked with a limp for the rest of his days. He was my mum’s walking companion and, by her account, a lovely boy. They had a second dog, a Jack Russell terrier called Spot, but he was a snarling, snappy beast with a definite ‘small-dog’ syndrome issue.
These photographs show lived and loving family members of all breeds in all their glory. Pride beams from all of the faces in these images. What is life without friendship?
