It’s so sad to hear – yet again – of the developers sweeping away such history without anyone stopping them. (How does a listed building become ‘luxury flats’ without any tinkering?)
Charing Cross rd between Cambridge circus and Tottenham court rd has already changed practically beyond recognition…One despairs. Again.

It’s coming to an end despite our loudest protests.”

One day, the rich people moving into tiny ‘luxury flats’ in places like Denmark St will realise that the reason they wanted to live there has evapourated like the solvent in varnish (or the switch cleaner in the volume control).
