I popped into the shop this Tuesday the 16th April for a button for my Mack . Fox was the name of the lady that helped me to try and source the button . It was near closing time and the poor lady said she had it , and was so accommodating. Alas we couldn’t find it only due to the time restraint. What a shop absolutely unbelievable ! I was humbled. I’m a builder and I’ve worked and traveled but such a lovely Time Capsule . Get down there and just buy buttons even if you don’t need them . Fox ….. your a lady see you next Tuesday . Des

I think I could spend a whole day in this shop. I absolutely adore buttons and have jars of them in different colours, sizes and shapes. My absolute favourites are some hand made glass ones from Eastern Europe. They are like treasure. I also keep button moulds and have a press gadget for covering them.

New York City once had many of these shops. Wonderful salespeople with exquisite taste would focus on your garment as if that were the most important thing in the world.

Now, I think one or maybe two button shops, also selling ribbons, exist in the Garment District but with disinterested clerks tossing far less interesting merchandise out at customers. The prices are beyond comprehension.

Well-dressed people walked on every block in glamorous New York. Gone are the days! But, globalization has resulted in other rewards in our daily lives.
