I appreciate Thomson&#039;s effort towards objective gaze
&#038; he lets his subjects speak some.
Interesting that we use the term subjects.
So much entitled &#038; projecting gaze &#038; surveillance &#038; now so hard to be free of it.

The look from the woman with baby to the man at the fancy goods stall...

One can scrutinize &#038; puzzle over such images for hours.]]></description>

The street doctor looks to have possibly been a victim of polio at some point. I well remember in my childhood seeing people with the huge built up shoes. In the town where I grew up there were  several cobblers who had been affected by polio.
I love the dignity of the Temperance Sweep - he even has his own halo.]]></description>
