I have been seeking out children's books illustrated by Keeping.
Though hard to come by, I was able secure some good ones and thank you for bringing this wonderful artist to our attention. Learning about his history makes his art even more appealing.

For whatever reason, this post reminded me of a quote from Freud:

"Art is the detour through which dreams find their way back to reality."

Although this artist is so familiar to you, he is a new-to-me discovery..........and I am so impressed with the freshness of his approach. His facility with line is so descriptive, and yet the washes of color add so much depth. I appreciate the way he has become The Storyteller, via published work that has been seen and enjoyed by so many. All of the intimate, private, family times with folks popping up out of their chairs to sing a tune or recite a verse........all of that has been poured into his published work. For years it was a shallow, mistaken custom to think of illustrators as "less than". Happily, we know better --- and your country's grand tradition of legacy illustrators and designers continues to inspire and amaze.

Thanks for always shining a light.

Wow. What a fantastic illustrator. I would love to have a selection of those on my walls. Someone should tell Ian McKellen about this chap. They'd be very at home in 'The Grapes.'
