I have great memories of the queues of shipping agents snaking around the enormous room, all holding their bundles of typed or handwritten documents. Each of these docs had to be examined and appropriately stamped. All part of a very different way of life that I look back on with deep nostalgia. Lovely news that the plan for yet another hotel has bit the dust!

I worked in this building in the late 1980’s. Part of my duties were showing the electric and gas guys where the meters were, reporting and escorting repair contractors and general office services. I’ve been in some hidden basement rooms and almost every bit of the building….Great memories.
