I'm so excited to read Harry Landis's article! We have so much in common, though we appeared at Unity Theatre at different times, I think. I played Eve in 'The Wages of Eve' by Leonard Irwin there in 1952. Of course I heard of Harry often, but I don't recall meeting him.
Is there any way I can get in touch with him? And how do I get a ticket for one of the July tours of Spitalfields?

Really great post about Harry Landis, I’m a huge fan. I am reminded of the character; Mr Morris who he played in ‘Friday Night Dinner’ a wonderful performance. He also reminds me so much of my dear, late uncle Joe Madden, who also grew up in Aldgate and Whitechapel and had to learn many life lessons very early, he taught me to shake hands firmly and to look people in the eye when meeting them. Although I’ve never had the pleasure, I get the impression that Harry Landis may be like that. Thanks GE for another excellent post.
