Thank you for this very moving post. It reminded me of my conversations with my late father who arrived in the 1960s from Bangladesh. This generation is a special generation and I would love to hear more from them. Are there any women at the Surma Centre?

I think this is a generation who, in the post war years, made the best of whatever they were given and worked hard towards a better future for their children. It’s the same with people who were born in Britain in that era, or for that matter wider Europe and beyond. They were grateful for every opportunity that came their way and didn’t grumble when times were hard. We should salute them, they are a great asset to society and can teach the young many wise things about how to survive in this post pandemic difficult economic period.
