Wonderful story about a wonderful man and his family.

We were also very sorry when they closed down Clerkenwell Fire Station as well as our local one here in De Beauvoir, Hackney and so many others.

What a interesting story, all the more so because my grandfather was also an Auxiliary Fireman during WW2 at the docks in London. I have some very similar photos of him in his uniform!

His early home at 330 St. John Street in London is quite impressive. Wonder if it still survives? If so, it must be worth £££££s!

Dear Gentle Author,
First let me say I so look forward to your daily edition in my inbox every morning here in my coastal California village!
I have family in the UK and my Mum and older sisters were all born and raised there!
So it feels like home!
I have also lived and worked in London but never quite made it to Spitalfields!
Speaking of my Mum, she is also 102, or nearly so, in May.
So I was excited to see this story and plan to read it to her, what an amazing man Jack Corbett is!

Ten years on, Jack will have left this earthly life. The contribution of people like him should never be forgotten. World War II was won, and people protected, by ordinary people who were extraordinarily brave in the face of adversity. A lovely celebration of Jack.
