Fascinating stuff! My maternal grandma lodged in London at Charlie Chaplin's mother's house whilst in a show with him, but no idea which show. Apparently this was just before he went to the USA. She originated from Leeds. Many of our folk were in some sort of show business, including uncle George Sayer who worked with Charlie Cairole at the Blackpool Tower.

"Trajectory" indeed. I recall an afternoon, walking down the byways in Venice, and a large international group of locals/tourists gathered in front of an appliance store. A television in the display window was showing a Chaplin silent movie --- and EVERY viewer guffawed at the same moment. We were united in mirth, regardless of country, language, circumstance, joys or woes. The Chaplin legacy!

Thank you for these wonderful handbills - so glad they have survived, along with the stories.
Stay safe, all.

I'm told that my grandfather, George Matthew Seaman Saunders 1879-1961 enjoyed the music halls a a young man about Whitechapel in the 1900s. Given where he lived and worked, I think the Cambridge was his most likely haunt. I would like to think he saw some of these bills.
