At the time it was still occupied by the Customs and Excise arm of the HMRC, think they used to undertake undercover work from here. English Heritage were heavily involved and we were not allowed t cut or remove anything inside or outside the building without their permission. How comes this is not the case now?

I also remember the vaults under the main building in the basement, I was told, that similar to Somerset House (I also worked on this) there were crypts containing the bones of Royalty. How true this was, I do not know. I do recall seeing some every interesting surveillance pictures that had been left behind. Think GDPR would have had a field day. If anyone needs any background information on the building or I can help with the campaign in anyway, please contact me at my email address. I have a soft spot for this building and can still remember my view from my site office looking out over the Thames.
