I would love to know what all their back stories were. At that time there would have been lots of veterans from the war which may well have started them on their downward path.

Yes, he has captured a period of time that was drawing to an end . The age of the street artist and various others who stood out stays in my memory. Although the 60’s were my schooldays we would always see them on trips up to the West End and the crowds would gather around them. I can recall a few that were not captured by his sublime skills . A one man band with dancing budgies in Leicester Square although perhaps that was just a bit later in the late 60’s and 70’s. The strong man escaping from chains at Tower Hill that was the 50’s and 60’s and the man with a hoarding strapped to his body who walked up and down Oxford Street and on Sunday in Petticoat Lane telling us all to eat more , or was it less lentils ? to curb our lust. that was as far back as I can remember. Now they are just ghosts and memories of another London
